What Is TEFA (Texas Education Freedom Account)?
The Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) is a state-supported program that helps eligible Texas families access education funds for approved learning options. These funds may be used toward qualified providers, including select online schools like Texas Success Academy (TSA).
TEFA allows parents to review eligibility, understand program requirements, and choose an educational setting that best fits their child’s needs.
TEFA Parent Portal Opens February 4
Beginning February 4, the TEFA Parent Portal will open to families statewide. This portal is where parents can:
- Review student and family eligibility requirements
- Confirm whether their child qualifies for TEFA
- View a list of required documents
- Submit an official TEFA application
The portal is designed to guide families step by step through the qualification and application process.
Apply Through TEFA and Enroll Early at TSA
While families will apply for TEFA through the Parent Portal, they can also enroll ahead of time at Texas Success Academy.
Early enrollment at TSA allows families to:
- Reserve a spot with a TEFA-qualified online school
- Receive guidance while completing the TEFA application
- Avoid delays once funding decisions are released
- Prepare for a smooth start to the school year
Families planning for the 2026–2027 school year are encouraged to apply for TEFA and enroll at TSA as early as possible.
